MVRDL Director Recieves E.P. Pope Award

Dr. Lanny W. Pace – E.P. Pope Award Recipient
The prestigious E.P. Pope Memorial Award for 2017 was presented to Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine alumnus, Dr. Lanny W. Pace. The E.P. Pope Memorial Award is an annual award made in memory of Dr. Edward P. Pope, one of the founders of the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD). The Pope Award is the highest award given by the Association and is presented to an individual who has made noteworthy and significant contributions to the Association with regard to implementing and advancing the recognition of the specialty of veterinary diagnostic laboratory medicine. Pace was presented with this notable honor at the 60th Annual Meeting of the AAVLD in San Diego, California earlier this fall.
Pace earned an undergraduate degree and doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Mississippi State University and a Ph.D. from Louisiana Tech University. Pace currently serves as the Executive Director for the Mississippi Veterinary Research and Diagnostic Laboratory System and Professor of Pathology in the Department of Pathobiology and Population Medicine. He provides administrative oversight and leadership of the state’s veterinary diagnostic laboratory system. Throughout his career, Pace has also been active in a number of state and national associations related to veterinary medicine and animal agriculture. Pace currently serves as a member of the House of Delegates with the AAVLD and has also completed six years as the Southeast region representative on the Executive Board in 2017.
Pace says that is an honor to be recognized by the AAVLD with the E.P. Pope Award and that he has been fortunate to have worked with great mentors, colleagues, and coworkers who all have exceptional dedication to veterinary diagnostics.
The Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine is proud of Dr. Lanny Pace and his accomplishments, and we warmly congratulate him on being this year’s distinguished recipient of the E.P. Pope Award.
